Synopsis

The curvy, little, human baker is too sweet for me but that doesn’t matter. I want a taste.

The bad boy dragon meets the good girl human. It’s a match made in heaven or maybe hell. A crazy twist of fate brought me to her bakery, The Cupcake Fairy, and I’m thanking my lucky stars. The first time I see her, the beauty steals my burning heart. The first time I breathe in her sweetness, my dragon roars “Mine,” and seals the deal.

Now, I have my work cut out for me. My human mate is suspicious of my motives and decides to fight the pull between us. She fears I’m going to burn her. Things are about to heat up and I’m going to make sure my little love enjoys every second of it.

Look out little Cupcake, your fiery dragon is coming for you.

Chapter One Look Inside

A bright pink neon sign flashes “The Cupcake Fairy,” and the craving blasts its way into my soul. Pushing open the heavy glass door, I step into a scene from the nineteen-fifties. I glance around the small shop, and the sugary, sweet decor instantly gives me a toothache. I attempt to ignore the unexplainable hunger roaring through my blood.
There’s an enticing smell in the air. It’s both comforting and exciting at the same time. I rub the back of my neck and wonder if stress over the last couple of days has finally caused me to crack. I turn and see cupcakes and cookies filling the chrome and glass counter display while the distinct aroma of espresso intermingles with the sugary sweets. My dragon sniffs the air and begins to press against my skin. The short blonde working behind the counter turns when I approach.
“Hi.” Her aqua-blue eyes widen slightly, and I notice powerful magic swirling around her. “May I help you?” I inhale deeply and realize her delicate scent doesn’t affect me at all. The little witch isn’t what’s drawing me to this shop.
I check out the tray of sweets, and a red velvet confection calls to me. After glancing at the laminated menu attached to the front of the glass, I give her my order. “I’ll take a magical variety pack.” While she boxes up my twelve cupcakes, I breathe deeply, trying to place the intoxicating scent.
“We’re out of Key Lime,” she interrupts. “I’ll substitute two Red Velvet if that’s alright.” So, the little witch reads minds.
“Thank you.” I shield my thoughts and watch her work.
The swinging door at the back of the bakery leading to the kitchen flies open, and a bundle of energy rushes through it. The deafening sound of my dragon roaring fills my mind as the curvy little human bowls me over. What in the ever-loving fuck is happening to me?
“I have another batch of Key Lime and Cookie Dough cupcakes ready.” She holds up a huge tray and smiles at the witch. She breezes past me, and the delicious scent that’s been teasing me hits me hard. I’m unable to stop myself from staring at her perfect, curvy ass as she leans down to place the tray in the display case. The beauty stands and spins around, giving me an eyeful of the tops of her luscious tits peeking out of her pink summer sweater, and my human side groans. As the stunning redhead steps closer to me, I suck in a huge breath of air, and her sugary, sweet scent fills every molecule in my body. There’s no stopping the sizzling bolts of electricity that light my blood.
“Mine,” screams through my mind as my dragon lays eternal claim to our mate. All the crazy coincidences suddenly make sense. Holy shit. I’m going to strangle that little bastard and stuff his fucking arrows down his God of Love throat. Dragons are solitary creatures. We don’t require or desire a mate to achieve a happily ever after. Most of my kind live alone and pick a suitable candidate if the urge to procreate hits them. Cupid, that little fucker, knows dragons don’t welcome him interfering in our love lives.
As I rub the sore spot in the middle of my chest, my inner beast roars for me to seal this deal. Fuck. I’m stuck between a rock and a very hard place. Not to mention the firmness growing in my pants.
“Your total is thirty-four, nineteen,” the witch interrupts, and I turn to hand her my credit card. She swipes it before giving it back. Her aqua-blue eyes become saucers as she looks between me and my mate. I almost slap my forehead in frustration. Too late, I realize my claiming aura is filling the small bakery. While my human soulmate seems oblivious to the rippling energy surrounding us, her employee senses the burning atmosphere.
Desire to escape from the pull she has over me roars through my entire being. My dragon fights for control, but I overpower him while my human side embraces the need to maintain my solitary existence. I somehow know that touching her soft skin or hearing the musical tilt to her voice will seal the deal. And that will lock a ball and chain firmly around my ankle for life. No, thank you. I’m not ready to give up without a fight. Wanting to get the fuck away from her before this intense chemistry overtakes me, I grab my box of cupcakes and hightail it out of the infernal shop while neglecting to introduce myself to the curvy little baker. The entire way down the crowded sidewalk, I tell my human side that distance will abolish this unwanted connection between us. I don’t even waste my time trying to convince my inner beast. He’s already sold on the sweet beauty. In the meantime, I’m going to find that little matchmaker and put my foot up his ass. By tomorrow, these crazy feelings will be a thing of the past, and I can concentrate on my other two headaches—my destroyed penthouse and the possible corporate espionage.
