Meredith
That spilled coffee was not my fault! That jerk knocked it over himself and ruined my day. Not the other way around. I was supposed to be celebrating my graduation while saying goodbye to my workmates when that stuck-up suit got in the way and had the audacity to blame me. I can’t stop fuming over it. I don’t care how well that suit molded to his broad shoulders, or how chiseled his jaw is. That behavior was unwarranted. He was acting no better than the kindergarteners I’ll be teaching. Some people are just too good looking for their own good, and I kinda hate that I noticed that…
Tate
Sure, the coffee thing was my fault, and I acted like a grouch when I should have been offering to clean it up. But I was caught off guard, and I’m never caught off guard. One minute, I was rushing through my day, and the next, I was spellbound by the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen. I can’t forget her. I know she’s too young, but my heart and soul already belong to her. The girl owns me and she doesn’t even know it. I have to find her…
Fate brings Tate face to face with temptation. Now, he’ll need to stop fighting the inevitable and starting fighting to prove to his girl that he isn’t the big jerk she first saw.

Chapter One Look Inside
Chapter One Look Inside
He didn’t fall for any of my fucking excuses. The asshole. The next weekend, I call myself ten kinds of fool as I drive up the winding hill that leads to Reid’s house. Dylan was well prepared for every excuse I gave until I finally admitted defeat. I decided it was easier to make a short appearance at the damn graduation party than to listen to any more of the asshole’s speeches.
After pulling my new toy up to the front of the house, I reach across the front seat and grab the present. Since I’ve never met the girl, I erred on the safe side and bought a silver Tiffany bracelet. Surely, that will go over well. I can hopefully just toss my gift to the graduate and run.
Lack of sleep and mornings spent jacking off until sore to visions of a girl who is way too young for me have me beyond irritable. Yet my mind won’t let me forget her gorgeous, curvy body or sparkling, smiling green eyes. I’m haunted twenty-four hours a day, and my frustration and disgust have reached a boiling point. I feel sorry for everyone who is subjected to my presence right now, and though I tried to warn my best friend, he’s a stubborn asshole.
Tori, Reid’s wife, answers the door holding a camera. She’s laughing, and I can’t help but appreciate how lucky my friend is to have such a wonderful wife. “Hey, you’re here in time for all the fun. Reid and Ethan lost a bet and are outside paying up.” Her dark blue eyes sparkle as she points over her shoulder and laughs. “Hurry up and get your phone out. I promise you’ll want pictures to remember this day.” Shaking my head, I follow her out the back door with my cellphone ready to snap pictures.
Sure enough, the sight is just as funny as she led me to believe. Ethan and Reid are standing on the side of the pool in tight speedo bathing suits with signs hanging around their necks that read, “I couldn’t even make it through a wedding without attacking my wife.”
I lift my phone to take the picture when I glance to the side and see my girl. The same girl who’s been torturing me all these long days and sleepless nights is standing next to the pool, embracing that fucker Derek Wescott. I hear him laugh as he hugs her tight. “Congratulations, Short Stuff. You deserve today.”
Emotions hit me from all directions. If this is Meredith Maxwell, she’s way older than seventeen. That fucking little weasel at the coffee shop lied to me, and I’ve spent all this time suffering for nothing. As rage explodes through my fucking body, I lose what’s left of my mind. My only thought is to get her away from Derek.
After dropping the present on the ground, I wrap my arm around her waist and spin my woman around, then pull her close to my chest. Shocked green eyes stare up at me as I growl over her head, “Don’t you ever fucking touch her again.”
Shock holds everyone still except Dylan, who rushes over. “Tate, what the fuck?”
I ignore my best friend and throw Meredith over my shoulder. I’m heading for the door when Reid Maxwell grabs me. “What the fuck, man? That’s my sister.”
When I turn around, I see the all the guests are standing next to Reid, shocked by my outburst and kidnapping attempt. Not ready to explain everything in front of her entire family, I decide to give the bare minimum. “Well, she’s my woman so back the fuck off.”
Reid doesn’t listen to me and steps forward to look right in my eyes. “Not happening. Put my sister down and we can discuss this like normal humans.”
My earlier opinion of Tori is confirmed when she reminds her husband, “Reid, I remember a certain husband of mine who wouldn’t let anyone stand in his way when we first met. Maybe you should let Tate and Meredith work this out on their own.”
“TORI!” Meredith screeches from behind my back, and I almost smile.
